Treasure Coast Mixed Pickleball League

Rules for 2023 Fall Season

The Treasure Coast Pickleball League is a competitive league between pickleball facilities and communities on the Treasure Coast. In addition to our league rules, we also use the USA Pickleball Rules to guide us. Here is the link to the USA Pickleball Rules

When matches will be played by division - the scheduled time could vary depending on the court availability at each facility.

2.5 - Friday @ 9:30 am

3.0 - Monday @ 9:30 am

3.5 - Tuesday @ 9:30 am

4.0 - Thursday @ 9:30 am

Matches are to begin the week of October 2nd, 2023 and will run through mid December 2023. Playoffs will take place tentatively on the week(end) of December 4th, 2023.

  • $45 per player

  • 8 weeks followed by the play offs

  • New players that have not played in the league will be self-rated using their USAPA Tournament Player Rating (UTPR) or Dreamland Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) if available. If a player is not listed in the UTPR or DUPR directory, their team captain will determine the player’s rating based on the skill level the player has entered when playing in unsanctioned tournaments. If neither of these apply to a player, then the self-rating will be the division skill level.

  • A player may "play up" into a higer division then their rating shows, however playing down into a lower division (sandbagging) is absolutely not allowed.

  • If for some reason you believe your rating to be higher then your actual division, please reach out to the League commisioner to have this evaluated and decided on a case-by-case basis.

  • Player’s ratings to determine which division they are eligible to play in will follow the below process. All divisions encompass a range of skill levels. The ranges are as follows:

2.5 Division – skill range 2.500 through 2.999

3.0 Division – skill range 3.000 through 3.499

3.5 Division – skill range 3.500 through 3.999

4.0 Division – skill range of 4.000 through 4.500

  • Once league play has begun, as scores are entered, each players rating will be recalculated by the system and updated accordingly. All ratings will be viewable by all members of the league and will be printed on all match lineups. Ratings will be carried over from season to season. Playoff matches will be applied to system rating updates.

  • A team consists of a minimum of 4 players - 2 men & 2 women minimum. With a maximum of 8 players.
  • Matches will consist of 1 Men’s doubles, 1 Women’s doubles and 2 Mixed doubles.
  • For mixed matches, the doubles team with the highest total rating must play the #1 court in the lineup.
  • The same team members playing Men’s and Women’s Doubles are allowed to play in the Mixed Doubles matches once both Men’s & Women’s matches are complete.
  • Captains will contact each other 1 week in advance to confirm match details.
  • Captains may re-schedule to another day/time if both teams agree.
  • Rain make-ups are to be arranged by the captains and noted on the league site.

  • Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles are played 2 out of 3 games. Games are scored first to 11 pts winning by 2 pts. If the score reaches 14-14 in any match, the winner of the next point wins. In that scenario the first team with 15 points will win.
  • The order of play is 1 Men’s and 1 Women’s match followed by both Mixed Doubles matches.

  • Calculated by total number of Team Wins/Losses
  • In the event of a tie, standing will be decided by the following in the order listed: Individual matches, most games won, most points won

  • At end of the regular season, the top two ranked teams per division will play for 1st and 2nd place following the standard season format. The third and fourth ranked teams per division will play for 3rd place following the standard season format.

The First Server and Sides determination:

The first server of the first game is determined by a "coin toss". The winner of the "coin toss" gets to choose between side (starting side) or serve. The team that serves first in game one will be the receiver of the first serve in game two. Sides are also switched for game two. For game three, if needed, the first server will be the first server team from game one. Sides are also switched back to the way they were at the start of game one. When either team reaches 6 points, the sides are switched during the third game and played out that way until a winner is determined.

Timeouts & Coaching during breaks:

Each team will be entitled to 2 timeouts per game. Timeouts are for 1 minute maximum. Coaching is allowed during timeouts.

Sub Players:

  • Are allowed but must pay a league fee of $25 for each team they are on the roster of. Players are allowed to sub up to a higher division only. No subbing down is allowed under any circumstances. However even with subs, your roster cannot exceed 8 players.
  • If a regular roster player is injured and cannot continue to play the balance of the season (and verified by a doctor’s note) you can replace this player. The replacement player will need to play out this roster position for the balance of the season. The injured player will not be able to play in any more matches during a season in which they have been replaced.

Match Lineups:

  • Lineups need to be completed before being exchanged with the opposing captain. Lineups must be exchanged with the opposing captain prior to start of match play. Both captains should arrive at the match with a lineup printed out from the system.

The official ball used will be the Franklin X-40

  • Please note the schedule (to be completed by September 28th, 2023) and notify the league coordinator of any conflicts asap.
  • Bye on the schedule means that you have the week off.
  • Home Team captains are responsible for entering scores following their matches.
  • Matches are allowed to be played on a different day of the week as long as both captains agree. The match must be played by Saturday of the week that the match is scheduled for, and the score entered by end of day Saturday. If not, both teams will have a forfeit for that week’s play. This will adversely affect both teams standing within the league.

  • If a player is injured during a match and it cannot be continued, the team with the injury would default the match.
  • If a makeup game cannot be completed within 1 week of the original match date, both teams will receive a default.
  • If any team that cannot field a full lineup to begin a match within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time will be subject to a default based on the discretion of the opposing team’s captain.
